DOMAIN NAME DISPUTES

With the growing importance of business on the Internet, the need to secure and protect domain names is a critical component of any business's brand protection policy. If a third party has registered and is using a domain name that is confusingly similar to your brand or business name for similar or related services, then you may be legally entitled to have the domain name transferred to you.

Domain name disputes involving brands are typically resolved in various ways, e.g. demand letters, civil action under the U.S. federal laws such as what is commonly known as the Anti-Cybersquatting statute and arbitration.

One of the most efficient and cost-effective means to enforce your brand against unauthorized use of a domain name is through the Uniform Domain Name Resolution Policy (UDRP) arbitration process. Under the UDRP policy, a successful complainant can have the infringing domain name transferred to its ownership within 30-60 days on average.
